About

Barros Prints creates handmade artwork inspired by nature through the lino printing technique.

Hi, I’m Jodie Moss, a printmaker and illustrator, currently based in Derbyshire.

I discovered lino printing in 2021 while studying for a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Blackburn College and instantly fell in love with the process. I’m drawn to its hands-on, tactile nature — especially the carving stage — where the image slowly emerges through time and patience. The unpredictability of the final print is what makes the process so exciting and rewarding.

Since completing my foundation course, I’ve continued developing my lino printing practice. I’ve shared my work with family and friends, exhibited in the local Art On The Streets competition, and led a number of lino printing and art-focused workshops.

My work is inspired by nature — a place where I’ve always felt most at peace and filled with joy. I love the idea of bringing a sense of the outdoors into our homes, offering small moments of calm and wonder in everyday life.

From a young age, I was drawn to being outside. My grandparents lived in a small village in Lancashire; in front of their house lay an ancient woodland and beyond it miles of rugged moorland. Whether outdoors or inside their home, everything felt quiet and unhurried. In every season, and in all kinds of weather, there was beauty everywhere. Growing up my siblings and I were there at least once a week.

That sense of peace and connection to nature has stayed with me, and I believe it deserves a place in our homes too. Through my lino print artwork, I aim to capture a glimpse of that feeling — creating gentle moments that invite you to pause, breathe, and be reminded of the beauty and life found in the natural world.

Barros Prints, named after my middle name, is my personal print studio creating nature-inspired lino prints designed to bring a little peace into everyday spaces.

Lino Printing

A form of block printing were you create your own physical artwork by hand and involves at least these three steps:

  1. Drawing

(either drawing on paper and developing your idea or drawing straight onto a linoleum block)

  2. Carving

(using specific carving tools to carefully carve out your design from a linoleum block)

  3. Printing

(applying ink to your carved out block and transferring the design on to paper)

The final outcome slowly emerges and creates beautiful images where no two prints are the exact same.
